Alpine School is a leadership camp for year 9's hosted up at the Mt. Hotham Dinner Plain.
There are several schools from both Gippsland and Melbourne, each with their corresponding 6 selected students.
I'm not sure about the other schools, so I'll talk about the technicalities for my school.
Out of the six students, there are three girls and three boys. At our school there was a camp we went too, along with a thorough application process for all the kids wanting to go.
Luckily, I was one of those three girls that got to go and represent my school.
Our time at Alpine School will be happening during term 3 of 2011. This means we will presumably be getting the best lot of snow out of the other three groups going throughout the year, so... WHEE HEE!!!
There will be a variety of different lessons; like cross-country and down-hill skiing; photography; bike-riding; first-aid; presentation skills; raft building and hiking... among other things. We will also be doing various homework and assigned school-work from our school.
